Sri Lanka hikes premium fuel prices

Aug 10, 2018 (LBO) - Sri Lanka has increased the prices of petrol (95) by 2.00 rupees to 167 rupees and super diesel by 1.

00 rupee to 130 rupees, the Finance Minister announced a short while ago.

"Although international fuel prices came down last month, there was uncertainty in the Middle East and last week prices were up again," Mangala Samaraweera, Finance Minister told reporters.

The price of Petrol (92 octane) will be unchanged at 145 rupees a litre and auto diesel will remain at 118 rupees. The CPC fuel prices will be increased from midnight today. Keeping an election promise the government under President Maithripala Sirisena reduced fuel prices sharply in 2015. In 2015 the price of a litre of 92-octane petrol was reduced from 150 to 117 rupees while the price of 95-octane petrol has been come down from 158 to 128 rupees.
