Sri Lanka hotel show and confab to showcase new tech, draw talent

Mar 20, 2014 (LBO) – A hotel supplies exhibition in Sri Lanka and an international hoteliers’ conference in June will showcase the latest energy saving technology and also help draw talent to the fast growing industry, officials said. The three day Hotel Show 2014, billed as the largest such event is South Asia is to kick off on June 14 is with over 300 domestic and international vendors and suppliers exhibiting at Colombo’s BMICH exhibition and conference hall.

This year and international hoteliers’ conference will also take place concurrently with the show focusing on boutique hotels and villas where hotel managers and owners will share the latest management ideas and trends.

Sri Lanka’s hotel industry is going through a boom following the end of 30 year civil war in 2009 with hundreds of new properties coming and older ones upgrading, creating a ready market and interest in hotel supplies.

Last year the show, which was held every two years was made in to an annual event.

The industry has become a key employment generator in the island, and hotels are keen to attract new talent.
