Sept 13, 2018 (LBO) – Sri Lanka’s industrial production index grew by 1.1 percent to 105.9 from an year ago, data from the Census and Statistics Department shows.
The Index of Industrial Production recorded a value of 104.8 in 2017 July.
Food production grew 0.1 percent in July to 103.6 index points from a year earlier.
Apparel production also grew 1 percent to 110.5 points in 2018 July.
The biggest gainer during the month of July in 2018 was printing and reproduction of recorded media which was up 37.2 percent to 114.1 points from a year earlier.
The manufacture of other non-metallic mineral products increased 0.8 percent in July to 111 points from a year earlier.
Rubber and plastic product manufacturing was up 8.8 percent in July to 117.4 points.
Manufacture of paper products, electrical equipment, furniture and tobacco recorded dips during the month of July.
