Sept 28, 2009 (LBO) – Sri Lanka’s former Treasury Secretary P B Jayasundera has resumed his post with immediate effect after the President Mahinda Rajapaksa re-appointed him to the post, the department of government information said.
Jayasundera had served as Treasury Secretary under two Pesidents.
Sumith Abeysinghe, who was Treasury Secretary has been made Cabinet Secretary, the information department said.
Cabinet secretary D.Wijesinghe will be Sri Lanka’s High Commissioner to South Africa.
Sri Lanka’s Supreme Court cleared the way for his appointment last week after it allowed Jayasundera to withdraw an affidavit in which he undertook not to take up state office.
Jayasundera resigned following a public interest petition where a privatization of a bunkering firm was reversed, by a bench headed by former Chief Justice Sarath Silva.
