Sri Lanka shares end 1.3-pct lower

Feb 22, 2011(LBO) – Sri Lankan stocks closed 1.34 percent down with losses seen across the board, brokers said.

The All Share Price Index closed at 7,514.74, down 1.34 percent (102.45 points) while the Milanka Price Index of more liquid stocks closed at 7,160.38, down 1.09 percent (78.94 points) according to stock exchange provisional figures.

Turnover was 2.1 billion rupees. There were 30 gainers and 185 losers.

“Retail investors seem to be running out of steam,” a broker said.

Aitken Spence closed at 170.00, down 0.50 cents with over 1.1 million shares done. There were three crossings at 170.00 rupees.

Sampath Bank closed at 291.10, down 3.60 rupees. There were two crossings at 292.50 rupees.

John Keells Holdings closed at 292.20, down 2.80 rupees. There were three crossings of 100,000 shares each at 292.00 rupees.
