Sri Lanka stocks close 0.31 pct higher

November 06, 2012 (LBO) - Sri Lanka stocks closed 0.31 percent higher Tuesday on the back of gains by John Keells Holdings. The Colombo All Share Index closed 17.28 points higher at 5,556.59 up 0.31 percent and the S & P SL 20 Index closed 7.23 points higher at 3012.98 up 0.24 percent.

The day's turnover was 231 million rupees. Top contributors to turnover were Seylan Bank (NV) with 55 million rupees, DFCC with 20 million rupees and Indo Malay with 18 million rupees.

Aitken Spence Holdings PLC slipped 0.10 cents to close at 70.00 rupees down 0.14 percent.

Index heavy John Keells Holdings PLC gained 0.50 cents to close at 212.10 rupees up 0.24 percent.

AVIVA NDB Insurance PLC closed flat at 370.00 rupees.

Colombo Dockyard PLC slipped 1.60 rupees to close at 216.10 rupees down 0.73 percent.

Dialog Axiata PLC gained 0.30 cents to close at 8.60 rupees up 3.61 percent.

Distilleries Company of Sri Lanka PLC slipped 3.00 rupees to close at 145.00 rupees down 2.03 percent.

Commercial Bank slipped 0.20 cents to close at 103.80 rupees down 0.91 percent. DFCC Bank gained 1.00 rupee to close at 108.00 rupees up 0.93 percent. Hatton National Bank PLC gained 1.00 rupee to close at 146.00 rupees up 0.69 percent.
