Sri Lanka stocks close higher 0.10-pct

Aug 10, 2015 (LBO) – Sri Lanka’s stocks closed higher 0.10 percent on Monday, with gains in some index heavy stocks, brokers said. The Colombo benchmark All Share Price Index closed 7.34 points higher at 7,377.94 up 0.10 percent. The S&P SL20 closed 7.14 points higher at 4,104.36 up 0.17 percent. Turnover was 1.3 billion rupees, up from 1.08 billion rupees Friday with 84 stocks closing positive against 83 negative. The main index showed gains in Carson and Cumberbatch closing at 403.90 rupees, up 8.30 rupees and Dialog Axiata closed at 11.40 rupees, up 0.20 rupees with over 5.75 million shares traded. Distilleries Company closed at 299.80 rupees, up 5.40 rupees. "Foreign selling persisted for the seventh consecutive session as foreign investors sold equity amounting to 13 million rupees on a net basis, extending the year-to-date net outflow to 196 million rupees," Lanka Securities said. "Net foreign outflows were seen in John Keells Holdings 132 million rupees, Dialog Axiata 57 million rupees and Bukit Darah 21 million rupees while net inflow was mainly seen in Peoples Leasing 61 million rupees." In banking stocks, Commercial Bank closed at 172.30 rupees, down 0.40 rupees and DFCC closed at 198.60 rupees, down 1.40 rupees. John Keells Holdings closed at 191.00 rupees, down 1.50 rupees.
