Sri Lanka stocks closed down 0.4-pct; Turnover at near 4 week low

Jan 25, 2016 (LBO) – Sri Lankan stocks closed down 0.43 percent with the negative sentiment of the investors continuing after two days of gains with losses in index heavy and banking stocks, brokers said.

The Colombo benchmark All Share Price Index closed lower 27.41 points at 6,354.83 down 0.43 percent. S&P SL20 closed 11.44 points down at 3,303.92 down 0.35 percent.

Turnover was at 374 million rupees, with 39 stocks closing positive against 90 negative.

The main index showed losses John Keells Holdings and the stock closing at 157.00 rupees, down 1.10 rupees and Sri Lanka Telecom closed at 39.40 rupees down 0.60 rupees.

In Banking, Commercial Bank closed at 129.00 rupees, down 1.00 rupees and Sampath Bank closed at 234.90 rupees, down 0.20 rupees.
