Sri Lanka stocks closed up 0.10 pct

September 27, 2012 (LBO) - Sri Lanka stocks closed up 0.10 percent Thursday with NDB PLC and AVIVA NDB Insurance indices dropping on confirmation of a take- over by AIA group. The Colombo All Share Index closed at 5,949.42 up 5.66 points and the S & P SL 20 Index closed 2.04 points higher at 3,222.31 up 0.06 percent.

Turnover was 1,870 million rupees. Top contributors to the day's turnover were Asiri Hospital Holdings with 887 million rupees, JKH with 213 million rupees and NDB with 76 million rupees.

AVIVA NDB Insurance PLC dropped 40.80 rupees to close at 398.70 down 9.28 percent. National Development Bank PLC dropped 7.40 rupees to close at 144.80 rupees down 4.86 percent. NDB Capital Holdings PLC gained 4.70 rupees to close at 439.80 rupees up 0.96 percent.

The most active counters for the day were Touchwood Investments, National Development Bank and Seylan Bank non-voting.

Index heavy John Keells Holdings PLC gained 2.00 rupees to close at 225.00 rupees up 0.90 percent.

Aitken Spence PLC slipped 2.00 rupees to close at 128.00 down 1.54 percent. Dialog Axiata gained 0.20 cents to close at 9.20 rupees up 2.22 percent.

Ceylon Tobacco Company PLC gained 0.40 cents to close at 699.90 rupees up 0.40 percent. The Distilleries Company of Sri Lanka PLC dropped 3.30 rupees to close at 159.50 rupees down 2.03 percent.

Commercial Banka dropped 1.10 rupees to close at 115.00 rupees down 0.88 percent. DFCC Bank slipped 2.70 rupees to close at 120.20 rupees down 2.20 percent. Hatton National Bank PLC gained 0.70 cents to close at 164.80 rupees up 0.43 percent.
