Sri Lanka stocks down 0.5-pct: JKH losses

Sep 30, 2015 (LBO) – Sri Lankan stocks closed down 0.49 percent on Wednesday with losses in index heavy John Keells Holdings, brokers said. The Colombo benchmark All Share Price Index closed down 34.51 points at 7,050.87 lower 0.49 percent. S&P SL20 closed 32.46 points lower at 3,826.15 down 0.84 percent. Turnover was 1.3 billion rupees, up 816 million rupees Tuesday with 42 stocks closing positive against 106 negative. The main index showed losses in John Keells Holdings closing at 169.70 rupees, down 3.00 rupees with a off the floor trade recorded of over 720,000 shares at 170.00 rupees. The stock hit a low price of 167.50 during the days trading. Hemas Holdings closed at 85.00 rupees, down 3.90 rupees. Commercial Bank closed at 159.00 rupees, down 2.90 rupees. Heavy trading was recorded in Chevron Lubricants with the stock closing at 370.00 rupees, down 6.00 rupees. One off the floor trade of 1.2 million shares was recorded at 370.00 rupees. "The crossing accounted for 35 percent of the days turnover," Lanka Securities said.
