Sri Lanka stocks up 0.3-pct

Oct 02, 2015 (LBO) – Sri Lankan stocks closed up 0.35 percent on Friday with yesterdays momentum continues as gains seen in the index heavy stocks, brokers said.

The Colombo benchmark All Share Price Index closed up 25.06 points at 7,105.54 higher 0.35 percent.

S&P SL20 closed 14.73 points higher at 3,851.06 up 0.38 percent.

Turnover was 1.34 billion rupees, down 1.8 billion rupees Thursday with 96 stocks closing positive against 47 negative.

“High caps showed gains and with the indexes continuing yesterdays momentum,” Lanka Securities said.

“Crossings accounted for 62 percent of the days turnover.”

The main index showed gains in Ceylon Tobacco Company closing at 965.40 rupees, up 14.30 rupees and Carson and Cumberbatch closing at 399.40 rupees, up 4.40 rupees.

John Keells Holdings closed flat 170.00 rupees with ten off the floor traded recorded amounting to 4.4 million shares at 170.00 rupees. The crossings accounted for 57 percent of turnover.

Most of the banking stocks were down with DFCC Bank closing at 181.60 rupees, down 1.40 rupees after hitting a 52 week low price of 181.50 rupees.
