Sri Lanka to revive export show after end of war

July 13, 2011 (LBO) - Sri Lanka is to revive an international export exhibition after 15 years to promote the island's exports and attract foreign investments after the end of its 30-year ethnic war. The event is being organised by the Export Development Board responsible for promoting exports during March 28 - 30, 2012 at the Sirimavo Bandaranaike Memorial Exhibition Center in Colombo.

It will consist of an exhibition, symposiums, and corporate events, the EDB said in a statement.

The Sri Lanka Expo 2012 exhibition is meant to showcase export products on a single platform with over 300 stalls covering the entire range of traditional and non-traditional products and services.

Symposiums will be held to create awareness on the investment climate and Sri Lanka’s image as a tourist destination.

Small and medium scale exporters will be given special consideration at the event. Over 1,000 buyers are expected and exporters will have an opportunity to have one-to-one business meetings with them.
