Sri Lanka Tourist Hotels Association elects Cooray as president

Oct 23, 2014 (LBO) – The Tourist Hotels Association of Sri Lanka (THASL) has elected as its president Hiran Cooray, Chairman of Jetwing Hotels, a tour operator with a chain of hotels that's also promoting eco-tourism in a big way. Now we are playing and batting on a smooth wicket and it is wonderful to see the association blossoming along with Tourism in our Island, Hiran Cooray, Chairman of Jetwing Hotels said.

We have been given a great opportunity and you have seen 05 years of tremendous growth, which most of us did not seen in the past.

Cooray, succeeds Jayantissa Kehelpannala, the former president of the association.

Cooray was appointed at the 49th Annual General Meeting which was held on the 17th October, 2014 at Negombo.

Cooray has 20 year experience in the hotels industry holds a Degree in Business Administration obtained from the University of North Carolina.

He has held the presidency of the THASL on three previous occasions and is also the past chairman of the PATA Sri Lanka Chapter.

In the meeting, M. Shathikumar was appointed as the Vice President in-charge of City Hotels, while Mr. Siri Goonewardena as appointed as the Vice President in charge of the Small Hotels.
