Sri Lanka’s Dilshan fined for showing dissent

DHAKA, April 1, 2014 (AFP) - Sri Lankan opener Tillakaratne Dilshan has been fined 20 per cent of his match fee for breaching the players' code of conduct during the game against New Zealand in Chittagong, the International Cricket Council said on Monday.

Dilshan was found to have shown dissent at an umpire's decision during his team's 59-run win over New Zealand in the Group one match which lifted Sri Lanka into the semi-finals.

The level 1 charge was brought by on-field umpires Rod Tucker of Australia and Aleem Dar of Pakistan, third umpire Bruce Oxenford and reserve umpire Steve Davis -- both from Australia.

In addition, players may be fined up to 50 per cent of the applicable match fee. It is not publicly known how much Dilshan was paid for that game.
