Wednesday’s ceremony also saw the appointments of 29 deputy ministers.

Rajapakse retained key posts of finance and defence, while premier Ratnasiri Wickremanayake picked up the portfolio of disaster management.

The foreign ministry portfolio went to Mangala Samaraweera, who also retained the portfolios of ports and aviation.
