July 04, 2011 (LBO) – SriLankan Airlines said it has cut ticket prices by about 15-20 percent in general on flights from Colombo with special one-way fares for students and migrant workers and group fares for pilgrims. It said in a statement the “flexible air fare plan provides a more competitive range of fares for flights from Colombo to many of its destinations in its global network.”
The new fare structure includes special one-way fares for students travelling to London, Kuala Lumpur and Bangalore and special one-way fares for Sri Lankan employees to Middle Eastern destinations like Doha, Dubai and Saudi Arabia.
It also includes group fares for pilgrimages to India, Jeddah and Thailand, new fares for business travellers to the Far East and special ‘Prepaid Ticket Advices’ to bring family members to Sri Lanka from other destinations.
“Overall, fares have been slashed by about 15 20 percent,” the statement said.
SriLankan currently operates about 175 flights a week out of Colombo to destinations in Europe, the Middle East, Far East and the Sub-continent.
It said business travellers can now enjoy “competitive fares” and direct long-haul flights to Europe without stopovers.
