SriLankan Airlines selects Honeywell for avionics, APU maintenance

May 05, 2014 (LBO) - SriLankan Airlines said it had selected US based Honeywell Aerospace to supply and maintain avionics and auxiliary power units of Airbus fleet including existing aircraft and those on order. The contracts include an Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) maintenance agreement for SriLankan’s Airbus A320, A330 and A340 fleets. An APU is a small gas turbine usually located near the tail which provide power for on board systems. Honeywell will install its Quantum Line communication and navigation system; HFR5 data link-capable solid state recorders; MCS-7200 L-band SATCOM system; and Air Traffic Services Unit Airline Operational Communication (ATSU AOC) data link software across the airline’s six new A330-300s to be delivered this year, SriLankan said. SriLankan has also selected Honeywell’s ATSU AOC software, which manages the aircraft’s data links, for all its existing A320 aircraft and will upgrade two of its existing A330s with Honeywell’s SATCOM systems.
