Aug 30, 2015 (LBO) – UNDP and Sri Lanka’s Dialog Ideamart have launched a social innovation “hackathon” to find solutions to development challenges in employment and enterprise, electronic waste management, and civic engagement.
Around 250 people attended the “HackaDev: Impact through Innovation” event last week. The audience comprised of university students and developers studying IT, employees of IT companies, members from the Dialog Ideamart ecosystem and CSO members, the organizers said.
Participants have till the 14th of September to develop ideas and solutions before submitting their proposals via the UNDP Website (www.lk.undp.org). Teams have the opportunity to submit multiple proposals, however, the single best idea will be selected for the HackaDev which is scheduled to be held on the 25th of September.
Presentations were made by Asitha Kodithuwakkuge, UNDP’s Livelihood and Local Economic Development Specialist, Sugandhi Samarasinghe, Project Associate of UNDP’s Environmental Sustainability and Disaster Resilience cluster, and Sonali Dayaratne, Policy Specialist at UNDP Sri Lanka.
