Sri Lanka will play host to the first annual IT knowledge dissemination conference endash Networking South Asia later in July.
Chairman of the Organising Committee, Dr. Gihan Dias says the conference aims to build links with regional Internet and allied service providers and to push through the latest thinking in the industry. rn
rnIndustry sources say the event could also help local firms establish regional ties and seek technology transfers from their Asian counterparts. rn
rnThe event is very timely, says Prof. V. K Samaranayake from the Colombo University, as Sri Lanka is rolling out an ambitious plan to connect its people to the rest of the world and to disseminate information and essential information services through the internet.rn
rnThe event is organised jointly by the South Asia Network Operators Group (SANGO), the Asia-Pacific Advanced Network (APAN) and the Asia Pacific Information Centre (APNIC). rn
