Banking Growth

Mar 11, 2015 (LBO) – Sri Lanka’s National Development Bank (NDB) says discussions are ongoing about expansion into the South East Asian region.

We are in Bangladesh and we are also looking at parts of South East Asia not South Asia, Rajendra Theagarajah, chief executive officer of NDB said.

There are some discussions ongoing.

He made these comments while addressing a forum in Colombo, Tuesday.

Theagaraja also added that there are ongoing discussions about the banks consolidation plans and that they hope the merger will go ahead with DFCC Bank as planned.

We believe the plan we embarked on is a valid one and have already conveyed this to a committee reviewing it.

A report of a committee appointed by the new regime on consolidation is expected in April.

But Theagaraja says, the merger has to be finally approved by shareholders.
