Cabinet approval to initiate discussions with IMF for technical assistance

Cabinet approval has been granted to initiate a discussion with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for technical assistance, Co-Cabinet Spokesman, Plantation Minister Dr. Ramesh Pathirana said.

“Cabinet approval has been given to the finance minister to go ahead and discuss with the IMF and their representatives are already in Sri Lanka. We are getting their technical assistance,” he said.

“But we have to take it from there, what sort of condition they will put forward and we have to look at from the country side as well, so from there we will take it forward whether it is restricted to technical advice and other sorts of assistance, it’s a matter of time.”
