April 30, 2007 (LBO) – Singapore Airlines has stopped night flights to Colombo, the airline said Monday, after the third incident involving Tamil Tiger aircraft and anti-aircraft fire from an air base adjoining the main airport. "Singapore Airlines wishes to inform all its customers and the traveling public that following a security review, effective from tonight, we will be operating our daily services between Colombo and Singapore on a revised schedule," the airline said in a statement.

Singapore's flight SQ 468 that was due in Colombo at 2355 today will operate as SQ 466 and will arrive at 1135 on May 01 and depart as SQ 467 at 1250 the same day.

The airline asked passengers with confirmed bookings to contact their travel agents or call Singapore Airlines reservations on 2300757.

Cathay Pacific Airlines has already announced a suspension of their flights to Colombo.

A statement from Emirates, which also suspended flights to Colombo, is expected later today.

Emirates also owns a third of SriLankan, Sri Lanka's national carrier and manages it.

Aircraft have been diverted to nearby airports on three separate occasions when Tamil Tiger aircraft were detected flying towards Colombo.
