Sept 13, 2011 (LBO) – The Sri Lanka unit of UAE’s Etisalat said it is offering a discounted international call package to migrant workers in partnership with the island’s main foreign employment agency association. “As an international company operating in a country that has a significant segment of its labor force working overseas, we understand the importance of supporting Sri Lankan migrant workers¬¶,” Etisalat chief executive Dumindra Ratnayaka said in a statement.

Under a deal with the the Association of Licensed Foreign Employment Agencies (ALFEA), Etisalat will give a package with a free subscriber indentity module when a migrant worker makes travel arrangements throung an ALFEA member agency.

Etisalat said the package will give “significantly lower IDD (international direct dialing) rates than the market average, including the absolute lowest rate for Middle Eastern countries along with Japan, Cyprus and Korea.” President of ALFEA, W M P Aponso said the mobile package will allow migrant workers to stay in touch with them.
