Free Wi-Fi serves 455,741 users with 79,280 GB of data so far: PM’s office

Mar 06, 2019 (LBO) – As per the statistics of the ICTA, 455,741 users have so far accessed free public Wi-Fi facilities in Sri Lanka, Policy Development Office of the Prime Minister’s Office revealed.







Consequently, 79,280 GB of data usage have been recorded since the 28th of October 2016.

ICTA is facilitating, coordinating and monitoring the programme. Currently, 1,176 public locations have been covered under this programme with the collaboration of the telecommunication service providers.







The general public can access this facility at selected public locations across the island including railway stations, bus stands, and libraries. When a citizen logged into the portal, a 100 MB of free data bundle can be obtained per month and the facility can be accessed at any given point once a citizen logged in.
