Growing Younger

Sept 14, 2012 (LBO) – Sri Lanka's Maliban Biscuits says it has given a make-over to its popular 40-year old 'Lemon Puff' brand, which is also a niche export market, making it more appealing to younger consumers. The brand has been re-launched with pop stars Bathiya and Santhush as brand ambassadors.

The Maliban Lemon Puff brand has been in the market for more than 40 years and become a household name when entertaining guests.

"It's a vibrant and authentic product, appeal to youth and entertains consumers," Ravi Jayawardena, Maliban's chief executive of sales and marketing said.

"Bathiya and Santhush fit the bill perfectly, they are vibrant, attract youth, entertaining and authentic," he said.

The biscuit manufacturer says it has improved the 'Lemon Puff' biscuit giving it a more refined taste, better texture and an attractive packaging at the same price.

"We have fine-tuned our recipe, we have fine-tuned our cream and also our biscuit," Jayawardena said.

"It's a total new offering altogether," he said.

Jayawardena says the firm decided to change the packaging to standout from competitors using similar yellow and green colour patterns.
