Korea Week 2020 – Stay At Home Festival

"Korea Week 2020" is upcoming!

The Embassy of the Republic of Korea welcomes you to participate in the “Korea week 2020” which is a virtual celebration of Korean cultural aspects including K-pop, Taekwondo, Korean language and Korean cuisine. It will be held from 14th to 20th of December 2020.

The unprecedented global pandemic has sparked the celebration’s innovative move to go digital this year via the Embassy social media handles (YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram).

This celebration is brought to your doorstep on virtual platforms to be enjoyed by a diverse audience, allowing them to partake in the cultural journey from the comforts of their home through the digital immersion of K-wave. The line-up of Korea Week is as follows;

  1. 14.12.2020 (Mon): Webinar on K-Wave with K-Pop fan club managers
  1. 15.12.2020(Tue): Online Cooking Class with the Korean Chef : Bibimbap

Online K-Food Cooking Class with the Chef at the Ambassador's residence. We will post a video of the Korean Cheaf making Korean traditional food, Bibimbap.

  1. 16.12.2020(Wed): Korean Food Mukbang (Eating Event)

 3 Sri Lankan people will try a lot of Korean food and introduce Korean restaurants in Colombo.

  1. 17.12.2020(Thu)- 20.12.2020 (Sun) : Special Performances

Four performances organized by Sejong Center for the Performing Arts will be live streamed on the Embassy's YouTube at 20:20 on that day.

  • "Hanyang and Seoul”: Seoul Metropolitan Traditional Orchestra fills the stage with Korean traditional music tunes, sand art, and various videos about the story of "Seoul".
  • "No One There (N.O.T.)”: "N.O.T." is a journey where an eighty-year-old-grandmother trapped in the memory of a 10-year-old girl finds her parents separated during the Korean War.
  • "Billy Carter”: A concert by the Korean indie band 'Billy Carter'. 'Billy Carter' is famous for singing the message that one can live one's life without discrimination and performing passionately.
  • "Let's Dance, CRAZY" : A performance of three friends growing into dancers in various genres such as hip-hop, break-dance, jazz, urban dance, modern dance, disco, tango and K-Pop dance.

  1. 18.12.2020 (Fri) -20(Sun): the 1st Virtual Korean Ambassador’s Cup Taekwondo Championship
  1. 19.12.2020(Sat): Online GKS (Global Korea Scholarship) Alumni Reunion
