Mahinda Rajapaksa sworn in as Prime Minister of Sri Lanka


Nov 21, 2019 (LBO) – Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa on Thursday took oaths as the new Prime Minister of Sri Lanka before his younger brother President Gotabaya Rajapaksa at the Presidential Secretariat.

Ranil Wickremesinghe officially informed the President today that he resigned from the PM post to allow the new President to form a caretaker government until the general elections in March 2020.

Accordingly, a 15-member cabinet is to be appointed tomorrow until the parliamentary elections.
