Manjula de Silva appointed Sec Gen & CEO of Ceylon Chamber of Commerce

Jan 30, 2020 (LBO) – Manjula de Silva will assume duties as the Secretary-General and CEO of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, from February 1st, 2020, the chamber announced.

He takes over from Dhara Wijayatilake who retires from that position after serving in that capacity since March 2016.

De Silva has held several senior positions in the Private Sector as well as in the Public Sector, including as a Member of the SEC, as the Chairperson of the National Insurance Trust Fund, as the MD and CEO of HNB Assurance, and the DG of the Public Enterprises Reform Commission, among others.

He served as the Chairman of the CIMA Sri Lanka Board in 2016 and was subsequently appointed to its Regional Board for MESANA (Middle East, South Asia, and North Africa) Region.

He is a Past President of both Insurance Association of Sri Lanka (IASL) and Unit Trust Association of Sri Lanka (UTASL).

Currently, he serves as a Board Member of BPPL Holdings Ltd. since 2016, and a Board Member of the Tea Smallholder Factories PLC since 2017.

De Silva has been engaged with the work of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce since 1996, having served on the Chamber Committee and being actively involved in several other initiatives.

He has also served as the Chairman of its Steering Committee on Insurance. He currently serves as a member of the Chamber Economic Policy Steering Committee as well as the National Agenda Committee on Public Sector Reforms.
