Feb 03, 2020 (LBO) – A planned two-hour power cut in Sri Lanka has been temporarily suspended after Power Minister’s instruction to the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation to continue to supply fuel to Kerawalapitiya power station.
Power and Energy Ministry said in a statement that the direction is, however, subjected to the cabinet approval.
The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation decided to suspend the fuel supply to the Kerawalapitiya power station today because the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) has exceeded its credit limit.
Accordingly, the power generation at the Kerawalapitiya power station was stopped earlier in the day.
Even though the power cut has been officially suspended, as per the latest reports, people are still experiencing power outages throughout the country.
