Mobile Sales

Feb 24, 2014 (LBO) - Sri Lanka's Dialog Axiata Plc, said it has developed a mobile point of sale (mPOS) application with extra features that will be first deployed in the island's largest taxi service.

3 Wheel Lanka (Pvt) Ltd, which operates under the 'Budget Taxi' will carry the patent-pending 'Dialog Street Smart' product, using a mobile device equipped with GPS (global positioning system) facilities.

In addition to having an mPOS facility allowing credit and debit card transactions, with digital metering it will allow the taxi centre to locate the taxi and the driver to find the routes.

The device on taxis is equipped with a display that can be viewed by passengers to which advertisement can be pushed by the taxi centre.

Dialog said its technical partner L H Technologies will initially install the technology in 500 Tata Nano cabs in service with Budget Taxi and will also be expanded to three wheelers.

The mPOS app can be used by any business with a mobile sales force, including home delivery services and outdoor sales, Dialog said.
