MT New Diamond towed 35 NM away from Sri Lanka coast to safe waters; no oil slick

Sep 05, 2020 (LBO) – Sri Lankan ships and aircraft along with the Indian Coast Guard after consolidated efforts have successfully towed MT New Diamond more than 35 nautical miles away from Sri Lanka coast to safe waters.

According to the Indian Coast Guard, the fire have now been reduced and no oil slick reported.

Meanwhile, the oil tanker has been handed over to an international salvage company by its owners. A team from the company is to arrive in Sri Lanka on Monday.
