Sept 03, 2007 (LBO) – No decision has yet been made to close the UK visa office in Colombo, though a review is underway, the British High Commission in Colombo said Monday. Press reports had said the visa office may be closed and moved to India.

"There is an ongoing review into British visa services in South Asia," the high commission said in a statement.

"The review is at an early stage and no decisions have been made yet on the position of the visa section at the British High Commission in Colombo."

Sri Lankan and Maldivian visa applications should still be submitted to the VFS visa application centre in Duplication Road, Colombo 03. "If a decision is made which affects visa operations locally we will issue a statement," the embassy said.
