Nursery Rhyme

March 14, 2008 (LBO) – Country music singers from the UK and Germany will perform at the annual 'Country Roads' concert this Sunday, the 16th in a series whose main aim is to raise funds for needy children. The show is supported by airlines and local hotels which give transport and lodging for visiting musicians. 'The Mavericks', a five-piece country music band from Germany and British folk singer Astrid Brooke will perform at the concert which will also feature local artistes including 'The Country Revival Band', 'Anno Domino' and 'Cosmic Rays'.

The show, which will go on the boards at the Mt. Lavinia Hotel in the southern suburbs of Colombo on March 16, is organised by the Country Music Foundation (CMF) of Sri Lanka.

The not-for-profit organisation has hosted concerts of country and western and folk music for the past 20 years and raised millions of rupees over the years working in partnership with UNICEF and Save the Children, UK.

The funds raised have been used to build pre-schools, main school buildings, provide learning and teaching material, school building material, libraries, books, drinking water facilities, mosquito nets to 1,500 children and their families, and a range of other supp
