Pakistan rises to eighth position in ODI rankings after series win in Sri Lanka

July 27, 2015 (LBO) – Pakistan has moved into the eighth position in the ICC ODI Team Rankings after its 3-2 series victory against Sri Lanka in the five-match series which concluded in Hambantota yesterday. Sri Lanka remains in fifth place though the country has dropped three ranking points creating an opportunity for sixth-placed England, an opportunity to gain ground when Sri Lanka faces Australia in a five-match ODI series from September 3 to 13.

Tillakaratne Dilshan who scored two half centuries in the final two games of the series has unfortunately dropped one place to sixth on 781 points in the player rankings and is now five points behind Black Caps’ Kane Williamson. Mathews has also dropped down to 21st place in the rankings, the International Cricket Council said. However there were positive movements for Lahiru Thirimanne (up three places to 36th) and Kusal Perera (up nine places to a career high 64th).
