May 24, 2013 (LBO) – Sri Lanka Ports Authority said a fire that broke out in a container freight station at Colombo Port has been brought under control and authorities are assessing the damage and probing its cause.

Fire brigades of Sri Lanka Ports Authority, Sri Lanka Army, Navy, Air Force, Colombo Dockyard and Colombo Municipal Council had helped fight the blaze.
Sri Lanka’s Government Analyst had started investigations to find the cause of the blaz.
An inquiry centre has been set up at SLPA’s customer centre to receive information on cargo imported and warehoused at Container Freight Station 01.
Inquiries about cargo housed at CFS 01, could be made at 071 8688361 or 011 2482579 from the duty manager, SLPA said.
