Port Payments

May 05, 2014 (LBO) - Payments to ports in Sri Lanka by shippers can be made online, speeding up imports and exports, Sampath Bank, a private lender in the island said.







Shippers who are not Sampath customers could make payments by visiting a super grade branch fro 8.00 am to 8.00 pm including holiday, the bank said.

Under an agreement between Sri Lanka Ports Authority, the state ports agency, a shipper could use Sampath's 'Vishwa' branded internet banking system to make a payment relating to an import or export cargo.

Users have to quote an invoice number issued by the SLPA which will be validated and payment details will be updated real time at the port, the bank said.

Customers could use a computer or a mobile device to make the payment.

They could also visit a branch to make the payment.
