Oct 02, 2012 (LBO) – Sri Lanka Telecom, the island’s largest telecom provider says it is providing high speed connections to all sporting venues during the Twenty20 world cricket championships being held in the island. SLT has provided fibre optic links to cricket stadia in Hambantota and Galle in the south, Pallekele in central Sri Lanka and in the capital Colombo.

Is high speed internet and Wi-Fi connectivity to International Cricket Council officials and also journalists, photographers and broadcasters who give up to the minute coverage of the matches to the world.

“The fast paced action of the T20 is being showcased to the world with fast paced communication using state of the art communication methods via high speed Wi-Fi connectivity,” SLT chief executive Greg Young said in a statement.

“…SLT invested heavily to extend its Metro Ethernet connectivity powered by ultra speed optical fibre cables to all the venues.”

The telco said local area networks have been built within the venues and service personal were on standby 24hours.
