Oct 19, 2011 (LBO) - A 20 member Sri Lanka business delegation will visit Vietnam in November to promote trade between the two nations focusing on the agriculture, textile and apparel sectors, a trade chamber said. "Discussions have been held between the Vietnam embassy and two airlines, and there has been a positive response, an official attached to the National Chamber of Commerce said.

"We are looking at tourism heavily, as well as petroleum and technical areas." The delegation will be led by Asoka Hettigoda, president of the National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka, with meetings scheduled to be held with the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce, Vietnam Small to Medium Enterprise Association, and Ministry of Trade and Investment

Trade in agriculture machinery, fruits and vegetables, rubber and related products, textile yarn and apparel sectors are to be looked at during the six day tour from Nov 13 to 18 covering the main cities of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

Representatives of the island’s Department of Commerce, Export Development Board, and Board of Investments will also join the tour.
