Sri Lanka Commonwealth Biz forum the largest ever

Nov 12, 2013 (LBO) - A Commonwealth Business Forum underway in Sri Lanka's capital Colombo is the largest in the history of the organization, and can be an opportunity to solve employment and skills challenges, officials said.





Sri Lanka after the end of a 30-year war presents opportunities for investment as it strives to be an economic hub, Sri Lanka's deputy foreign minister Neomal Perera said.

Mohan Kaul, chief executive of the Commonwealth Business Council said Sri Lanka's business sector had come a long way since the end of war and was helping the country achieve high levels of growth.

Update II Secretary General of the Commonwealth Business Council, Peter Callaghan said with 1,500 delegates from around 90 countries the three day business forum will be the largest in the history of the event.

The business forum is associated with the biannual Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting to be held in Sri Lanka later this week.

Callaghan said there were 250 delegates from Africa and a 100 strong delegation from China as well as 800 from Sri Lanka.
