Sri Lanka construction industry targeted by Milcris

Sept 20, 2013 (LBO) - Milcris (Pvt) Ltd, a construction consultancy with Sri Lankan origins which caters mainly to international projects in the Middle East says it is now targeting the domestic market. "We do not want to disturb or we are not competing with local companies. Our competitors are international giants," De Silva said.

"We are looking for major projects where international consultation is needed."

Corrected "The time has come for us to enter into the local construction consultancy industry," chief executive Millan Christopher De Silva told reporters.

"It might be little too late though but since we are not targeting on small projects it’s the right time for us.

"There is lot of space for big projects in the country with the development that is taking place."

The chartered quantity surveying practice offers services including project management, cost consultancy and quantity surveying, contract and claim management.

Milcris says it had worked on large projects including Muscat Salalah airport in Oman, luxury hotels in UAE and has revenues close to 7 million US dollars a year.

"There are many ongoing projects and more to come in to the country,"
