Sri Lanka draws Indian clothing retailer

Feb 15, 2012 (LBO) - Sri Lankan clothing retailer Hameedia has tied up with India’s Madura Fashion & Lifestyle to sell its clothing brands and also open retail stores in the island. We’re going a step further and will make these brands available at several national apparel retail chains in major cities."

Madura Fashion & Lifestyle is a division of India's Aditya Birla Nuvo with eight factories. Hameedia, which styles itself as a menswear specialist, said it will import and distribute leading brands such as Louis Philippe, Van Heusen, Allen Solly and Peter England in Sri Lanka in a three-year deal with Madura Fashion.

"Hameedia and Madura Fashion & Lifestyle will join hands and launch a concept store under the brand name Planet Fashion," said Hameedia deputy managing director Hussain Sadique in a statement.

The new store will sell all products under the Louis Philippe, Van Heusen, Allen Solly and Peter England brands.

Sadique said they also plan to open a series of Peter England stores in prime locations in Colombo.
