"We have plans to expand quite considerably this year, and choose Colombo as it's our nearest neighbor and traffic between the two countries has shown a significant growth in the last few years, and we believe its going to grow further," said Siva Ramachandran, vice president global sales, Kingfisher.
Kingfisher Airlines, a newcomer to the global aviation business, expanded its fleet to 87 aircraft connecting 73 cities in just five years.
The airline says the company on average has 440 departures globally.
Colombo became its second international destination after London, to which it commenced regular flights from its home base in Bangalore on September 03, 2008. Aitkin Spence would act as Kingfisher general sales agent in Colombo.
Kingfisher, a full service carrier, said it will offer daily flights connecting Colombo with Bangalore and Chennai on Airbus A320 narrow body planes which are ideal for short haul destinations such as Colombo.
