Sri Lanka encourages local companies to bid for infrastructure projects


June 19, 2015 (LBO) – Sri Lanka’s Finance Minister called on the local companies to come forward and bid for infrastructure projects in the future.

“So we are asking you to give us a quotation with a good price and must do it as fast the previous companies,” Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake said.

“The issue we are having is that the previous foreign companies that have been commissioned were very fast.”

The Minister made these comments at the second forum to improve the ease of doing business held in Colombo.

Throgh this intiative the govenemnt plans to identify and address procedural and regulatory issues in doing business in the country.

Official representing Sri Lanka Ports Authority, Inland Revenue Department, Credit Information Bureau (CRIB), Foreign Exchange Control Department, Board of Investment (BoI), Urban Development Authority (UDA), and Colombo Municipality Council (CMC) and large number of representatives from the private sector also were present at the meeting.
