Sri Lanka gets a new army commander


Feb 21, 2015 (LBO) – President Maithripala Sirisena in his capacity as the Minister of Defence and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces has appointed Major General A.W.J.C De Silva as the next Commander of the Sri Lanka Army, a media report said. The appointment will be effective from 22nd February, 2015.

De Silva is the 21st commander of the Sri Lanka Army. He had joined the Sri Lanka Army as Cadet Officer in 1980 and has served in many regions including operational areas.
