Sri Lanka hoteliers showcase industry to students

Jan 21, 2014 (LBO) – Sri Lanka’s hotels are showcasing the industry to students in several parts of the country starting through a series of seminars and hotel visits. The Hotels Association of Sri Lanka (THASL) in association with Negombo Hoteliers Association and Institute of Tourism and Hospitality Management (ITHM) will conduct the first seminar on January 23.

“The programme will be very practically oriented to give students an overview of what the tourism and hospitality industry is, the various job and future career opportunities available,especially in the hotel industry,” the hoteliers said in a statement.

President of the Hotels Association of Sri Lanka, Jayantissa Kehelpannala past president Srilal Miththapala, hotel school chief Lalinda Ariyaratne will interact with students at the first seminar at Jetwing Blue hotel in Negombo.

A senior chef, front office manager, housekeeping manager and food and beverage manager from the region will also be among the resource persons.

Sri Lanka’s leisure industry has been growing after the end of a 30-year war, which is creating new job opportunities.
