Mar 25, 2015 (LBO) – Sri Lanka is keen to attract Pakistani investments in sugar, cement, textiles, dairy production, chemical plants, pharmaceuticals and information technology, finance minister Ravi Karunanayake said.
Karunanayake was speaking at a reception hosted by the Pakistan High Commission in Colombo on the occasion of the National Day of Pakistan on 23rd March 2015.
The minister further stated that Pakistan is the second largest buyer of Sri Lankan products in the SAARC region.
He added that Sri Lanka is committed to enhance trade and economic cooperation in general and progress on the FTA related matters in particular.
Speaking at the occasion, acting Pakistan High Commissioner Dr. Sarfraz Ahmed Khan Sipra stated that both countries have undertaken substantive measures to deepen and broaden the economic relationship.

“It includes refining the Free Trade Agreement, expanding the portfolio of trade-able items and encouraging bilateral investment.” Dr. Sipra said.
