Feb 22, 2013 (LBO) – Members of Sri Lanka’s Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) will be able to get motor insurance with professional liability cover, insurer Allianz Lanka said. Under an agreement signed with GMOA, its member will get motor insurance with free flood and natural disaster cover, with professional liability.
“We are sure this will engage our members and encourage greater awareness about liability insurance as well,” GMOA president Anurudhdha Padeniya said in a statement.
“As medical practitioners we are deeply conscious that our profession has become more complex today than before, and looking for the right insurance partner who can offer holistic solutions is a necessity we must be prepared with.”
Allianz Lanka chief executive Surekha Alles said introducing professional liability cover through motor insurance fills a need in the market.
Allianz Insurance Lanka Limited is a fully owned subsidiary of Allianz SE Germany and has been operating as a licensed insurer since 2005. Its life insurance unit Allianz Life Insurance Lanka Ltd was launched in 2008.
