Sri Lanka opposition to talk to IMF directly than dealing with ˜local jokers’

Dec 24,2014 (LBO)- Sri Lanka’s opposition leader Ranil Wickremesinghe said that he would deal directly with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Washington instead of dealing with the ˜local jokers’ if they formed a new government. He made this comment speaking about the IMF Fund assessment which was okay with the exchange rate.

œYou are adding up numbers but the number do not add up and the IMF said last September the exchange rate is all right, Wickremesinghe said.

œI don’t agree with them and I do not think the majority agrees with them either.

œThey come here and write books and go and that's why I have said I will not waste time with the jokers here, I will deal directly with Washington.

He was addressing the business community at a forum in Colombo.

œWhat we need is the next generation of economic reforms which we have not been doing for the last five years, Wickremesinghe said.

"We have to go for the second generation of structural reforms which will promote competition, innovation and productivity gains. Are you ready for this? He asked.
