Sri Lanka shares end down 0.2-pct

Mar 02, 2012 (LBO) - Sri Lankan shares closed weaker Friday in somewhat choppy trade with turnover falling to low levels, brokers said. Environmental Resources Investments was the most actively traded stock, closing at 19.30 rupees, down 60 cents as was HVA Foods, which ended at 17.60 rupees, down a rupee.

Acme Printing & Packaging was also actively traded, closing at 23 rupees, down 1.50. The main All Share Price Index closed down 0.17 percent (9.49 points) at 5,460.19, while the more liquid Milanka index fell 0.38 percent (18.00 points) to close at 4,745.19.

Turnover fell to 403 million rupees, according to stock exchange provisional figures.

Index heavyweight John Keells Holdings closed at 178.30 rupees, up 40 cents while Commercial Bank closed at 100 rupees, up 20 cents
