Sri Lanka stocks close down 0.05-pct

Sep 23, 2015 (LBO) – Sri Lankan stocks closed down 0.05 percent on Wednesday with losses in some index heavy stocks, brokers said.

The Colombo benchmark All Share Price Index closed down 3.55 points at 7,114.83 lower 0.05 percent.

S&P SL20 closed 11.48 points higher at 3,884.22 down 0.29 percent.

Turnover was 747.5 million rupees, down from 806 million rupees Tuesday with 59 stocks closing positive against 98 negative.

The main index showed losses in John Keels Holdings closing at 174.00 rupees, down 1.30 rupees with three off the floor trade recorded with 500,000 shares traded at 175.60, 174.00 and 175.00 rupees.

Nestle Lanka closed at 2,002.50 rupees, down 27.50 rupees.

Gains were seen in the poultry sector during early trade with all three counters hitting 52 week high prices but closed down.

Three Acre Farms closed at 144.50 rupees, down 1.20 rupees and Grain Elevators closed at 93.00 rupees, down 2.20 rupees. Bairaha Farms closed at 203.90 rupees, up 10.40 rupees.
